DC Council Passes Additional Legislation to Help Residents
Tuesday, the DC Council unanimously passed a fourth piece of legislation in response to the coronavirus public health emergency.
ANC Provisions in Today’s Emergency Bill
I have been keeping you apprised of the steps that the Council has taken to support Advisory Neighborhood Commissions during this public health emergency, and have continued to listen to you and advocate for you. As a result, every coronavirus response bill, including today’s, has included additional flexibility and support for Commissions.
Updated Resources for Residents and Businesses
On Tuesday, I released a statement calling on the DC Department of Corrections (DOC) to quickly provide clarity to the public on its plans to improve conditions and operations at the DC Jail. I’m concerned about the serious reports coming from residents and employees at DC Jail during this public health emergency.
April 26 Coronavirus Weekend Update
On Tuesday, April 21st, the DC Council held its second virtual legislative meeting and made adjustments to the COVID-19 Response Supplemental Emergency Amendment Act of 2020 , which the Council passed on April 7th. These changes strengthen protections for District residents and small businesses during this public health emergency. April 18th Coronavirus Update for District Residents

Grocery Workers are Front Line Workers, too
Ten members of the DC Council sent a letter to grocery store operators urging protections for the front line store workers we rely on desperately during this public health emergency. We are grateful that grocery stores have remained open, and we understand the risks workers are taking to serve our residents.
Pushing on Multiple Fronts for Federal Funding
Today, I sent a letter with my DC Council colleagues and a separate letter with my Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments colleagues pushing Congress to grant DC additional funds to fight the coronavirus.

On Monday, April 1st, Mayor Bowser issued a stay-at-home order . It was an important step that I called for last week because the only way we slow the spread of the dangerous coronavirus is by limiting interaction with other people.
What does the Coronavirus Stay-at-Home Order Mean?
Due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in our city and across the region, Mayor Bowser issued a stay-at-home order, effective today at 12:01 A.M., for District residents, until April 24th. This order reinforces that residents should stay at home to protect us all and to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
